We’ve all heard it’s hit the car lots, but what’s so great about the new 2015 F-150? Since they’ve been rolling in, I’ve never wanted an F-150 more than now (and I’ve grown up in car/Ford business). Not only is the towing capacity and two sun roofs doing it for me…. well let me just give you my list of why the 2015 F-150 is so great and exactly what the hype is all about.
It’s 700 lbs Lighter
Made for the first time in F-Series history; it was decided that the 2015 F-150 would be made with aluminum instead of steel. The outcome of the aluminum was that the truck would be 700 lbs lighter–meaning better MPG and towing capacity. My favorite part is that you can’t tell a bit of difference in the look, but you get twice the amount of benefits. It’s a win/win.
It’s Towing Capacity
How much a truck can tow really says a lot about a vehicle and the quality behind it. The max towing capacity for the new F-150 is 12,200 lbs in the 3.5L V6 Ecoboost. The smallest tow capacity we could find in the line up (which is rare) was still over 5,000 lbs in the 3.5L Ti-VCT V6. With the F-150 being 700 lighter in order to save on MPG, 12,000 lbs is a LOT!
While the Ford F-150 has always been a top rated truck for safety, we tend to wonder whether the aluminum-built truck still withholds its rank for safety. The usual air bags and stability control are complemented by things like the second row inflatable seat belts, additional braking help via Curve Control, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitors, and a lane-keeping system, which nudges the truck back into its lane when it detects the crossing of the double yellow. The lighter and more controllable F-150 is its own safety device; its easier to hand and drive thanks to the major weight loss. (source: The Car Connection)
It’s The Best Selling Truck
Ford did it again for the 38th year in a row–the Ford F-Series Truck was voted, once again, the #1 Best Selling Truck for 2015.
